Subsea Tie-in Engineer

Role Overview

Subsea tie-in system design and engineering for connecting pipeline end terminations (PLETs), pipeline end manifolds (PLEMs), inline structures (ILTs) and subsea trees. Responsible for tie-in method selection, spool/jumper design and installation engineering for diver and diverless connection systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design subsea tie-in spools, jumpers and connection systems
  • Select and specify tie-in methods (vertical vs horizontal, diver vs diverless)
  • Perform spool and jumper stress analysis including thermal expansion effects
  • Design tie-in aids including guideposts, alignment systems and landing frames
  • Coordinate with pipeline, structure and controls teams for interface management
  • Prepare tie-in design reports, specifications and installation procedures
  • Support installation vessel spread selection and tie-in campaign planning
  • Review vendor documentation for tie-in connectors and connection tooling

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Ocean or Subsea Engineering
  • 6+ years of subsea tie-in design experience
  • Experience with vertical and horizontal tie-in systems (Vectran, FMC, Aker solutions)
  • Knowledge of spool and jumper design codes (DNV-ST-F101, API 17D)
  • Proficiency in OrcaFlex or OFFPIPE for installation analysis
  • Understanding of ROV-assisted diverless connection operations
  • Strong 3D spatial awareness and interface management skills
  • BOSIET certification required
