Flexible Pipeline Engineer

Role Overview

Design and engineering of flexible pipelines and flowlines for deepwater subsea development projects. Working with a major international EPC contractor in Kuala Lumpur, responsible for flexible pipeline specification, design validation, and installation support from FEED through detailed design and execution phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop flexible pipeline specifications per API 17B/17J and DNV-ST-F101
  • Perform design validation including collapse, burst, fatigue and on-bottom stability analyses
  • Coordinate with riser, installation and flow assurance teams for system integration
  • Review and approve manufacturer design documentation and qualification test reports
  • Prepare technical queries and evaluate vendor proposals for flexible pipeline packages
  • Support installation engineering including laying methods, pull-in and tie-in procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments and HAZID/HAZOP for flexible pipeline systems
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, FAT, SIT and offshore installation campaigns

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Ocean or Petroleum Engineering
  • 8+ years of flexible pipeline design engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of API 17B, API 17J, DNV-ST-F101 and ISO 13628 standards
  • Experience with flexible pipeline manufacturer qualification processes
  • Proficiency in pipe stress analysis software (OFFPIPE, OrcaFlex or equivalent)
  • Deepwater field development experience essential (500m+ water depth)
  • Excellent technical writing and cross-discipline coordination skills
  • BOSIET certification required
